Vespa Gets the Mansory Treatment: Carbon Fiber & Monaco Flair

Vespa Gets the Mansory Treatment: Carbon Fiber & Monaco Flair - Mansory Vespa Elettrica - captainelectro.com

When you think "Mansory," the image that jumps to mind isn't that of a scooter. These guys are known for transforming hypercars into carbon-clad beasts that could probably power a small city with all the surplus energy they've got. So, when I heard they were turning their attention to the humble Vespa Elettrica, well… I had to see this for myself.

Apparently, Mansory decided to take a spin with everyone's favorite Italian city runabout and give it the "Monaco Edition" treatment. Does this mean the scooter now does zero to sixty in under three seconds and costs as much as a small yacht? Not quite.

First off, there's carbon fiber. Lots and lots of carbon fiber. Honestly, I think this Vespa has more carbon fiber than my last three sports car reviews combined. We've got it on the mudguards, those cute side panels, even around the headlight. It's like Mansory looked at the Vespa and thought, "You know what this needs? To feel like it's about to take off."

Then there's the seat. Oh, the seat. It's no longer the humble vinyl affair of the original. Now it’s a leather-wrapped, cross-stitched thing of beauty. Think less "heading to the beach" and more "parked outside the Monte Carlo Casino." And of course, what's a Monaco Edition without a bit of red and white? The poor little Vespa's been splashed with Monaco-inspired graphics because…well, why not?

Remember folks, this is still a Vespa. Mansory, bless their hearts, left the actual electric motor alone. It's still got a 5-horsepower ticker that'll take you to a blistering top speed of 45 mph (70 km/h). I’m not sure what a carbon fiber headlight does for that kind of performance, but it sure looks snazzy! You'll get about 62 miles (100 km) on a full charge, which is perfect for zipping around town. Just… maybe not the Monaco Grand Prix circuit.

Ah yes, the million-dollar question (and probably fairly close to the actual price). Mansory hasn't dropped that bombshell yet, but a regular, non-carbon-fiber-infused Vespa Elettrica will run you around $8,000. Let's just say, expect to pay "Mansory Money" for the special edition.

Look, will this scooter make you faster? No. Will it attract a crowd of supercar enthusiasts? Probably not. Will it be the most absurdly opulent way to fetch your morning espresso? Without a doubt. And honestly, in this crazy world of automotive excess, isn't that kind of the point?

The Mansory Vespa is utterly unnecessary, hilariously over-the-top, and guaranteed to make you smile. Sometimes, that's more than enough justification. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'll start browsing yacht listings to pair with my future scooter…
