Solar Scooters, the folks who usually zip around on e-scooters, have decided to grow up a little. They've unleashed their E-Clipse 2.0 Race Edition electric motorcycle, a two-wheeled wonder that's supposedly as happy on city streets as it is kicking up dirt. Having spent considerable time reviewing everything from luxury yachts to supersonic jets, I'm always curious to see if these newfangled electric contraptions live up to the hype.

First things first, this bike looks sharp. It's got a carbon fiber frame and swingarm, which sounds fancy and probably helps it weigh less than a suitcase full of tea and biscuits. Solar Scooters claims this thing is built for both commuting and off-road shenanigans. I mean, who doesn't love a bit of adventure, right? Just make sure you've got the right license and insurance before you go full Evel Knievel.

Underneath that sleek exterior, there's a 13,000-watt motor that'll supposedly get you up to 65 mph. That's faster than a London taxi driver trying to make a last call at the pub. As for range, the LG battery pack should give you up to 70 miles on a single charge, which is plenty for a jaunt around town or a bit of countryside exploring. And don't worry, if you run out of juice, you can always plug it into a wall outlet and recharge in under 3 hours. Just enough time for a dinner, a bit of siesta after and a biscuit, then you're off again.

This e-moto comes with all sorts of bells and whistles, including adjustable suspension, a choice of wheels (because who doesn't love options?), remote locking and unlocking, and an alarm to keep those sticky fingers away. They've even thrown in turn signals, mirrors, and a license plate bracket, so you can be a law-abiding citizen while you're zipping around.

So, how big of a hole will this two-wheeled creation make in your wallet? Well, this little beauty will set you back $6,795.95. That's a bit more than I'd spend without thinking about it at least twice, but maybe it's worth it for the thrill of the ride. Plus, it's definitely cheaper than some of the other electric motorcycles out there.

So, is the Solar Scooters E-Clipse 2.0 Race Edition the bee's knees? Well, I haven't had the chance to take it for a spin myself yet, but it certainly sounds promising. It's got the looks, the power, and the range to make it a fun and practical choice for both city dwellers and weekend warriors. And who knows, maybe it'll even make me give up my trusty bicycle. Just kidding, I'll never give up my bike. But this e-moto might just be tempting enough to make me reconsider.

Anna McDee, mother of two (bless their socks!), is a degreed engineer with a toolbox full of stories. After years of toiling behind the scenes, conjuring up technical marvels, she finally emerged, blinking into the sunlight. She discovered that electric propulsion can be fun, and decided to share her tales with the world. From dissecting the inner workings of a family minivan to pondering the aerodynamics of a soccer ball, Anna's curiosity is as boundless as a toddler's energy. Her writing is a delightful blend of technical insight, mom-isms, and the occasional "Eureka!" moment, usually accompanied by a celebratory cup of tea.
