Husqvarna, the motorcycle manufacturer that's been around since the dawn of time (or at least since 1903), has just launched a new electric dirt bike that's actually street-legal. I know, right? It's like they've finally figured out that some of us like to ride our dirt bikes to the trails instead of hauling them in a truck.

The Husqvarna Pioneer has a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, which might sound like a lot, but it's actually not that big. It's enough to get you about 85 miles on a single charge, but that's according to the WMTC cycle, which is notoriously optimistic. In the real world, you're probably looking at something closer to 60 miles, maybe even less if you're really ripping it up.

At least you can swap out the battery in about 10 minutes, so you can always carry a spare if you're planning on going for a longer ride. Just be prepared to get your hands dirty, because it sounds like you'll need some tools to do the swap.

The Pioneer's motor is a modest 11 kW, which translates to about 15 horsepower. That's not a lot, but it's enough to get you up to a top speed of 59 mph. And it's an electric motor with all that torque available right from the start. That means you can climb hills like a mountain goat and leave your gas-powered buddies in the dust.

Speaking of dust, the Pioneer has some pretty cool features to help you stay in control when things get rough. It's got traction control and adjustable regenerative braking, both of which can be controlled from the handlebars. So if you're feeling a little squirrelly, you can just dial in some more traction control and let the bike do the work.

This thing has got all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a high-end dirt bike, like WP suspension, Braktec brakes, and a multifunctional display unit. Plus, it's super easy to ride, thanks to the lack of a clutch or gearbox.

The Husqvarna Pioneer is a great option for anyone who wants to experience the thrill of electric dirt biking - beginner or an expert. Just don't expect to win any races against those gas-powered guys. At least not yet. And let's not forget you'll be riding your dirt bike on the trails without getting noise complaints from angry squirrels. That's a huge win in my book.

As of right now, Husqvarna isn't saying how much the Pioneer is going to cost. But let's be real, it's not going to be cheap. This is a high-end electric dirt bike with all the latest technology. I wouldn't be surprised if it came in at around $15,000, maybe even more.

If you've got the cash to spare, the Husqvarna Pioneer is definitely worth considering. It's a fun, eco-friendly way to get your adrenaline fix. And you'll be the envy of all your dirt-biking buddies. The Husqvarna Pioneer is an electric dirt bike that's street-legal, surprisingly powerful, and probably pretty expensive. But that's the price you pay for being on the cutting edge of technology.
