Today, I've got some news that's gonna make you squeal like a piglet at a petting zoo. Well, I know I did squeal a bit when I saw it this morning. Remember that time when electric superbikes were just a twinkle in some tech guru's eye, something you'd only see in sci-fi movies with dudes in shiny suits riding them? Well, helmets at the ready, because those days are gone!

Ultraviolette, an Indian company that's clearly not messing around, has just unveiled the F99, and let me tell you - this thing is hotter than a jalapeño on a summer day. They're calling it India's first-ever superbike, and with a claimed top speed of 159 mph, I'm not about to argue. This electric crotch rocket is designed to go faster than a cheetah on a sugar rush with a side of espresso.

Okay, I can almost read your mind here... "Electric superbike? Must cost a gazillion dollars!" Believe it or not, this is where it gets really interesting. Rumor has it that the F99 is expected to be priced around a cool ₹800,000, which translates to roughly US$9,560. That's less than many fancy electric scooters zooming around, and this thing can practically fly!

Despite the rock-bottom price, this ain't some flimsy toy you'd find in a cereal box. The F99 comes with its 90 kW liquid-cooled motor rated at 120 horsepower. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in a scenery-blurring 3 seconds. In my book, that's "holy moly" quick.

Let me be honest here - this bike is drop-dead gorgeous. It's got those sharp angles and aggressive lines that scream "superbike," like it just stepped out of a superhero movie. The air ducts, winglets, and pointy front end give it that aerodynamic appearance, making it look like a hot knife that's ready to slice through butter.

The F99 has a 55-inch wheelbase and stands just 41.3 inches tall. That means you'll be practically hugging the road, feeling every bump and curve like it's a personal massage. It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with some seriously sticky tires - taking those corners like a pro won't be an issue.

The frame is a mix of steel and aluminum, while the body is all sleek carbon fiber. And don't even get me started on the suspension and brakes. This baby's got an upside-down Ohlins front fork and a monoshock at the back, along with Brembo calipers and double disc brakes up front. They simply took all the best parts from a superbike and crammed them into this electric marvel.

So, with all the fancy hoohas onboard, can this thing handle anything besides a smooth racetrack? Well, Ultraviolette has already put its predecessor, the F77, through its paces in a hilarious video where they take it off-road, splashing through mud and even crossing rivers. It's a marketing stunt, sure, but it shows that these bikes are tougher than they look.

But don't expect them to do the same with the F99. This bike is all about speed and performance. In fact, Ultraviolette is planning to break some records with it, aiming for the fastest quarter-mile and the highest top speed ever achieved by an Indian motorbike. Talk about ambition!

Unfortunately, there's a little catch: you can't actually buy this bike yet. The company is taking inquiries for now, but the official launch isn't expected until 2025, and even then, it's only for India. But don't lose hope just yet! Ultraviolette has already started exporting the F77 to Europe, so there's a small, teeny-tiny chance the F99 might make its way to the US eventually. Fingers crossed!

For now, all we can do is drool over the pictures and dream of the day we can finally throw a leg over this electric beauty. It's a superbike that's not only affordable but also promises to be a proper hoot to ride - like no other bike ever before. And who knows, maybe one day we'll see it zipping down American highways, leaving a trail of awestruck onlookers in its wake.
