Erik Buell's Cutting-Edge FUELL Fllow: Electric Motorcycle Reservations Zoom Ahead of Launch
Ladies and Gentlemen, feast your eyes on the latest creation from motorcycle maestro Erik Buell: the FUELL Fllow. After what feels like a lifetime (thanks to the pandemic), the electric motorcycle that's been teasing us since 2019 is finally ready for reservations. Following its e-bike sibling, the Flluid, the Fllow is finally making an appearance, and boy, does it have some tricks up its sleeve.
For a mere $11,995 (or $12,000 if you're not feeling particularly mathematical), you can get your hands on this commuter-class electric motorcycle. Sure, it may not be as speedy as some of the other electric bikes out there, with a top speed of 85 mph (137 km/h), but you'll still be outrunning the fuzz on any American highway. But here's where the Fllow starts to show off: 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 2.7 seconds. That's faster than the LiveWire One, folks.
Now, don't be fooled by its 180 kg (396 pounds) frame. The Fllow comes in two flavors: an 11 kW and a 35 kW model. For our European friends, the 11 kW version means reduced license requirements. And with an axial transverse flux hub motor, you'll have ample room for batteries and storage – perfect for stashing your full-face helmet.
Speaking of batteries, this 10 kWh pack boasts a city range of 240 km (150 miles). Not only is it a part of the bike's structural integrity (à la LiveWire's S2 Del Mar), but Erik Buell claims it's the most radical chassis design he's ever done. Charging this beast? No problem. Level 1, 2, and DC fast chargers will have you back on the road in 8 hours, 1.5 hours, or a lightning-fast 30 minutes, respectively. Plus, the FUELL mobile app ensures you're always connected to your Fllow, complete with nifty safety features like blindspot awareness and front/rear cameras.
But hold your horses; the Fllow isn't quite ready for US production. Buell and his crew are looking for 3,000 reservations to kick off a crowdfunding campaign, which will eventually lead to self-funding as production ramps up. So, it's still a bit of a wait before the Fllow graces our garages. But once it does, it'll be squaring off against the likes of the SONDORS Metacycle, Ryvid Anthem, and CSC RX1E.
So, for those of you itching for an electrifying ride with a dash of innovation and a generous helping of speed, the FUELL Fllow might just be the ticket.
