The Italdesign Asso di Picche in Movimento: An Electric Blast From the Past

Well, you know how I often open my articles with a statement that I’ve seen it all? From the roaring engines of the '60s muscle cars, diesel-belching trucks, to the sleek and silent sails of the high seas? Well, I was wrong - I haven’t seen it all because now, the electric revolution has taken me, an old-school automobile enthusiast, by storm. Mind you, I've swapped out the nostalgic smell of gasoline for the invisible hum of electric power. However, I still occasionally roll my eyes when someone mentions charging ports.

Enter the Italdesign Asso di Picche in Movimento. A mouthful, right? But bear with me. This gem, which is apparently a tribute to a 1973 Audi concept, has more metal muscle than a gym junkie's dream, all while being electric. It seems like the guys over at Italdesign decided to take us back in time, but with a spark... get it? Electric? Spark? Never mind.

Firstly, let’s address the dimensions. This beast is 15.3 feet (4,662 mm) long, about 4 feet (1,230 mm) tall, and approximately 6.4 feet (1,945 mm) wide. So, it's kinda like a BMW Z4, but on a diet of pure electricity and adrenaline.

It's got a whole body made of aluminum – oh, how times have changed! No more steel, just lightweight aluminum. And polycarbonate windows? Why not throw in a kale smoothie while you're at it? But jokes aside, all these materials do help to shave off those pesky extra pounds.

The infotainment system? Ultra-thin and can be rotated away if your passenger isn’t in the mood. And let's not forget the leather belts turned door handles, which I must say, adds a touch of old-school cool. So, there’s a bit of practicality amidst all this futuristic funk, like a boot that can accommodate two medium-sized suitcases. Perfect for that weekend getaway.

Now, let me don my skeptical cap for a moment. The charging port, which replaced the front air intake – clever, very clever. But how long until I’m making my coffee waiting for this baby to juice up? And, while the entire concept is exhilarating, can it beat the rumble of a V8 on a lonely highway? We’ll see.

One thing is for sure, with its blend of past and future, the Italdesign Asso di Picche in Movimento is sure to turn heads. Just imagine cruising down the road in a car that combines the nostalgia of the 70s with today’s electric ethos.

Yours truly,

Captain Electro
