Kia EV4: Electric, Edgy, and Ready to Rock

Kia decided, "Hey, let's give Tesla a little nudge, shall we?" And out popped the EV4, a sleek sedan, and a cheeky hatch, both ready to rumble. This is Kia's way of saying, "We can do electric too, and we can do it with a wink!" Can we talk about that price? Around $35k? That's like finding a designer handbag at a thrift store. Score!

Both versions of the EV4 are launching with a single motor, front-wheel drive setup, and a respectable 201 horsepower. And before you start grumbling about the lack of all-wheel drive - Kia's promising dual-motor and GT versions down the line. Patience, my dears, patience.

You've got two battery options: the zippy 58.3 kWh and the marathon-running 81.4 kWh. If you're all about speed, go for the smaller battery. You'll hit 62 mph in a breezy 7.4 seconds. But if you're like me and prefer to avoid those awkward charging station encounters, the bigger battery is your best bet. The sedan can go a whopping 391 miles! And the hatch isn't far behind, with 367 miles. Not too shabby, Kia, not too shabby.

The EV4 is rocking a 400-volt system, which makes it a bit slower to charge than the 800-volt setups in the EV6 and EV9. We're talking 29 to 31 minutes to juice up. That's just enough time to grab a latte and maybe scroll through a few cat videos.

Inside, it's a tech wonderland. A 30-inch display? Yes, please! You can stream YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, play games, and even belt out your favorite tunes with karaoke. It's a rolling entertainment center! And with identical wheelbases, both the sedan and hatch offer plenty of room for your precious cargo. But if you're a serious shopper, the sedan's extra length means more trunk space. 17.3 cubic feet versus the hatch's 15.4. Every little bit counts, right?

The EV4 is rolling out in Korea first, then Europe, and finally, America gets its turn. The US-made sedan will hit our shores later in 2025. So, keep your eyes peeled, folks. This little electric wonder might just be the next big thing.

The electric vehicle market is getting crowded, but Kia's EV4 brings a fresh perspective. It's that new kid in school who's cool, smart, and has a great sense of humor. And with all those serious electric cars slowly crowding our streets, a little bit of fun goes a long way.

I gotta say - the Kia EV4 is a stylish, tech-filled, and surprisingly practical electric car that might just give Tesla a run for its money. I know its looks are not what many of us would expect from an electric sedan, but it is a brave new world and the EV4 is no Cybertruck - nobody should be shouting at you for driving it around.
