Hydrogen Hot Wheels: Hyundai N74 To Take On Nurburgring

Well, Hyundai's back at it again with the N Vision 74. This concept car, the lovechild of a DeLorean and a 1970s fever dream, refuses to stay in the garage of forgotten prototypes. Rumors are swirling faster than a turbocharged hamster wheel that this hydrogen-powered beauty is finally getting a green light for production.

According to the latest whispers from the South Korean business rumor mill, this "N74" beast will be a rear-wheel-drive, gullwing-doored, two-seater wonder. Forget those measly 671 horses in the concept, this thing's supposedly packing 765 horsepower and a zero to 60 mph time that'll make your eyeballs feel like they're lagging behind. Hyundai's even got the audacity to mutter about taking on the Nürburgring record. Does it feel like challenging Mike Tyson to a tickle fight? Sure, but the sheer ambition is admirable.

Of course, with this kind of performance comes a price tag that'll make your wallet scream in a language only dogs can understand. If - and it still is a capital IF at this stage - this thing goes into production, we're talking heart-stopping $366,000, which might as well be Monopoly money for most of us. To add some insult to the injury, Hyundai says this isn't about profit, it's about proving hydrogen can be fun. That’s how you make $366,000 sound as if it was $36. Nice try, Hyundai.

So, the question is: Will anyone actually buy this thing? I mean, it's gorgeous, sure, with its retro-futuristic vibe and those delicious proportions. But dropping supercar money on a Hyundai? That's like ordering a bottle of champagne and finding a goldfish inside. It's unexpected, but is it good?

I'm not saying it's impossible. Hyundai has already shown us that electric vehicles can be fun with the Ioniq 5 N. Maybe they'll pull the same rabbit out of the hat with this hydrogen hot rod. But call me gently skeptical, with a touch of morbid curiosity. For now. Actually, I’d love to be wrong on this one.

Let's not forget that this isn't the first time this rumor has reared its beautiful head. Last year we heard similar whispers, only to have Hyundai say, "Nah, we're good." Now, they're not saying much at all, which is either the silence before a glorious symphony or the prelude to a disappointing fart.

Personally, I'd love to see the N74 become a reality. But let's be real, if they only make 70 for the road, it'll be more exclusive than a club for billionaires who only wear socks on Tuesdays. So, Hyundai, if you're listening, make more of these things! The world needs more excitement, more audacity, and more cars that look like they're about to time-travel. Just, you know, maybe lower the price a tad.
