ZEN50 it’s  a zero-emission catamaran that can sail the high seas with unlimited range. This baby was just unveiled by a fledgling European yard established only last year, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer.

Designed from scratch by an award-winning naval architect Julien Mélot, this full carbon catamaran spans just over 50 feet and features racing hulls forged from lightweight carbon fiber. Weighing in at approximately 16 metric tons, the multihull is also equipped with a massive solar roof that generates up to 16 kW of energy. That's right, it's completely energy self-sufficient, with a solar power/weight ratio of 1:1 that beats any other yacht in the class, according to ZEN.

But that's not all, folks. ZEN claims the flagship is the world's first series-production catamaran to be fitted with a wingsail. The OceanWings32, designed by Ayro, is fully automated and can be hoisted and lowered with the simple touch of a button to harness more power from the wind. The addition of the wingsail will allow seafarers to cruise longer distances at greater speeds.

With a maximum speed of 10 knots while running solely on the electric motors, the ZEN50 can reach a whopping 14 knots at full tilt with the wingsail erected. And if you use both the motors and the wingsail, and dial the speed down to between 6 and 10 knots, this baby can sail on theoretically forever.

Onboard, the catamaran offers an array of luxe amenities, including three separate dining areas, a professional galley, saloon, two kitchens, and accommodation for up to 12 guests in ensuite cabins. The solar roof actually converts into a giant upper deck with sweeping views, while the 366-square-foot flybridge rivals that of an 80-foot motoryacht.

And the best part? ZEN50 requires no traditional fossil fuels. That's right, not a single drop of it. The first unit in construction is not equipped with any generator and will not carry any fossil fuel onboard. Even the tender aboard the first hull is electric and will be recharged by the mothership. This is not only great for the environment but also easier on the pocket.
