Airshow China just got a whole lot more interesting with XPeng AeroHT's flying car, the "Land Aircraft Carrier" (catchy, right?). This futuristic contraption is making a lot of noise - figuratively speaking - and I'm here to give you the lowdown.

XPeng AeroHT, the brainchild of XPeng (those electric car wizards), has snagged a whopping 2008 pre-orders for their modular flying car. That's right, over two thousand people have already raised their hands (and wallets) for a piece of this airborne action.

I know a flying car sounds like something out of The Jetsons. But this isn't just a pipe dream. XPeng AeroHT has actually built the darn thing, and it's not just some cobbled-together contraption either.

This flying car is a two-part wonder. You've got the flying machine itself - a sleek and futuristic eVTOL (that's Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing, for those not in the know). That flying pod comes with its own "parent vehicle," a ground-based chariot that doubles as a charging station.

So, what are the specs of this airborne marvel? Well, this is where the whole thing gets weird. There are no specs available, but we do know that it's slated to hit the market in 2026 with a price tag of no more than $277,390. That's a pretty penny, especially for something that we won't see for another two years.

But the XPeng Aeroht is seriously aiming for mass production, and they're not messing around. They've already broken ground on a massive factory in Guangzhou. It has a planned annual capacity of 10,000 units. That's a lot of flying cars, and it seems a big chunk of the first year’s production has already sold out!

I'm not going to lie, me and flying cars? Skeptical, to say the least. I mean, we've been promised these things for decades, and they've always seemed just out of reach. But XPeng AeroHT seems to be the real deal. They've got the technology, the funding, and the vision to make this happen. Taking a spin in a flying car is the ultimate dream, a symbol of freedom. And innovation as well. It's a huge thing... so, here's to XPeng Aeroht and its ambitious vision.
