Well, knock me down with a feather duster! Remember ONYX, those electric moped makers who were all the rage a while back? They were like the rebellious younger sibling of the e-bike world, a bit rough around the edges, but with a certain undeniable charm. Sadly, they went kaput earlier last year. But guess what? Like a phoenix rising from the ashes (or maybe a zombie crawling out of the graveyard, depending on how cynical you're feeling), ONYX is back! And they've brought a shiny new toy with them - the ONYX RCR LTD.
This limited-edition baby boasts a top speed of 55+ mph. Yes, 55+! I can practically feel the wind whipping through my helmet hair just thinking about it. But this moped is as much about going fast as it is about looking good while doing it. The RCR LTD is a real head-turner, with its retro-inspired design and sleek black finish. This bad boy has a capacity of 3,240 Wh, which translates to a range of up to 120 miles in Eco mode. Of course, if you're planning on cruising at top speed, you can expect that range to dwindle faster than my patience in a slow-moving grocery line. But who needs range when you've got speed, right?
Speaking of speed, the RCR LTD has three different riding modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. Eco mode limits you to a measly 20 mph, while Normal mode lets you unleash up to 40 mph of fury. But if you're feeling truly wild, Sport mode is where it's at. This is where you can experience the full glory of those 55+ mph.

The RCR LTD tips the scales at over 150 lbs. That's actually quite a lot of weight to be lugging around, especially if you're planning on pedaling. Yes. This moped has pedals. Apparently, they're there to help you conserve battery power and maybe get a little exercise in. But let's be real, who's going to be pedaling a 150+ lb moped? I'd sooner run a marathon in stilettos.
Those pedals aren't just there for show. They're actually there to help ONYX skirt around some pesky regulations. In its lowest power mode (Eco), the RCR LTD technically qualifies as a Class 2 electric bicycle. I know, I know, it's hard to believe something this powerful could be considered an e-bike. But that's the magic of loopholes.
Of course, whether or not this classification will fly with your local authorities is another matter entirely.
