Look, I've spent decades writing about just about anything that can transport you from Point A to Point B – whether it's on the ground, in the sea, or soaring above. From gas-guzzlers to good ol' diesel beasts. But if there's one thing the world has been clamoring for, it's a flying car that's as electric as my excitement for weekend joyrides (and that's saying something).

And now, it seems the day has finally come. No, not the day I finally upgrade my vintage, trusty electric bike, but the day when "Jetson ONE" gets its wings in Italy. That's right folks, Jetson AB, that snazzy Swedish startup, has done it! They've bagged the certification for flights in Italy's wild and free uncontrolled airspace. I can hear it now, "Mamma Mia! Here I fly again!"

I've always had a soft spot for anything that could defy gravity, especially if it comes with a plug. But, admittedly, I'm often just as skeptical as I am excited. Jetson says it's the first to market a commercially available personal electric flyer. But in a world where even my toothbrush is electric, it better be good. Other competitors have started to spring up like mushrooms after rain, but Jetson's offering seems to be a cut above the rest.

Jetson ONE is described as a "unique new form of aerial travel." Unique? Now, that's a tall order, especially when we've seen flying contraptions of all shapes and sizes over the years. And if you're worried about pilot training – they've got you. You'll be zooming around after some comprehensive training sessions. Don't expect to fly out of the showroom though; that's reserved for the toy cars you step on at 2 am.

The news has it that the flagship ONE aircraft has been granted a one-of-a-kind registration certificate for fun-filled ultralight eVTOL flights by Italy's Aero Club d’Italia. Now, I'm all for a Sunday drive, but a Sunday flight? With the beautiful Italian countryside beneath? Shut up and take my $8,000 downpayment! 

Oh, and did I mention will.i.am's in on it? Well, I suppose if you can't sing about flying, you might as well just fly. It's one thing to "Scream & Shout" in a studio, quite another to whoop in joy as you soar like, well, the Jetsons!

Don't fret, my fellow Americans, the first Jetson ONE flight has already touched down on US soil. And back in Italy, they're revving up for unmanned flights, ensuring the gadget is safe enough even for those with two left feet – or should I say, wings?

Jetson's big leap to the skies comes after moving its base from Poland to sunny Italy. They've settled in the scenic Tuscany region, with an 800-meter (2,625 ft for my imperial comrades) airstrip, perfect for those trial runs. And if you're keen on a test flight or just curious to learn, they've got a customer center and pilot school. 

Lastly, if you've got a casual $98,000 (excluding taxes and fees) lying around and you fancy joining the 300 others who've splashed the cash on this electric dream, the Jetson ONE awaits.
